CrowdRoars

Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 12, 2025

CrowdRoars ("we", "our", or "us") is an anonymous real-time reaction app where people join public rooms during live events and post short reactions. We are committed to being transparent about what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Please read this policy carefully.

CrowdRoars is designed to be used without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any identifying information to use the app.

1. Information We Collect

Because CrowdRoars is anonymous by design, we collect only the minimum data necessary to operate the service:

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personal information.

2. Anonymous Usernames

When you join a room, the server assigns you a randomly generated display name (for example, "TurboHamster12"). This name is unique per room — you get a different name in each room you join — and is not chosen or controlled by you.

These usernames are fun identifiers only. They are not tied to your real identity and are discarded when a room expires.

Important: Do not post your real name, phone number, email address, home address, or any other personal information in a room. All room content is public and visible to everyone in that room.

3. Data Retention — 24-Hour Expiry

Rooms and all messages within them automatically expire and are permanently deleted from our servers after 24 hours from the time the room was created. We do not maintain an archive of past rooms or messages.

Session records (your device fingerprint and server session ID) are retained for a longer period to support continuity across sessions and to enforce moderation decisions (such as bans). You can clear your session at any time by clearing app data or local storage.

4. IP Address & Device-Based Moderation

To keep CrowdRoars safe and prevent abuse, we may use your IP address and session identifier to:

IP addresses used for moderation are stored securely and are not shared with other users or third parties for marketing purposes. We retain moderation records (such as banned IPs) only as long as necessary to enforce the applicable ban.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

CrowdRoars does not use tracking cookies. We use your device's local storage (or AsyncStorage on mobile) to store:

This data lives only on your device and is not sent to third parties. You can delete it at any time by clearing the app's data or local storage in your device settings.

6. Reporting & Moderation

Any user may report a message they believe violates our community guidelines. When a message receives a significant number of reports in a short window, the room is automatically frozen pending admin review.

Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. Reported messages may be deleted, and the posting session may be muted or banned. We do not share the identity of the person who filed a report.

Moderation actions (deletions, bans) are logged for accountability purposes and retained for a reasonable period to allow review of moderation decisions.

7. User-Generated Content

All content you post — reactions, room titles, and room descriptions — is public and visible to every participant in that room. By posting, you grant CrowdRoars a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content within the service for the duration of the room's 24-hour lifecycle.

Do not post personal information, private data, or content that could identify yourself or others. Do not post illegal content, hate speech, threats, or harassment. We reserve the right to remove any content and take moderation action at our discretion.

8. Third-Party Advertising

CrowdRoars may display third-party advertisements within the mobile app, including ads served by Google AdMob or similar ad networks. These networks may use your device's advertising identifier and general location to serve contextually relevant ads.

We do not share your session data or IP address with ad networks. Ad networks operate under their own privacy policies. You can limit ad tracking through your device's privacy settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising; Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).

9. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand aggregate usage patterns — for example, how many rooms are created per day or which categories are most popular. Any analytics data we collect is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

We do not use behavioral tracking, session recording, or cross-site tracking.

10. Children's Privacy

CrowdRoars is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Contact
